Set up transcriptor-mcp in VS Code

communitystdiounknown

An MCP server (stdio + HTTP/SSE) that fetches video transcripts/subtitles via yt-dlp, with pagination for large responses. Supports YouTube, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, Vimeo, Facebook, Bilibili, VK, Dailymotion. Whisper fallback — transcribes audio when subtitles are unavailable (local or OpenAI API). Works with Cursor and other MCP host

01Configuration
{ "mcpServers": { "transcriptor-mcp": { "command": "docker", "args": [ "run", "artsamsonov/transcriptor-mcp:latest" ] } } }

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json. Generated from the captured install method (docker); the mcpServers shape is shared across Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, and VS Code.

02Steps
  1. Make sure VS Code is installed and up to date.
  2. Open .vscode/mcp.json and add the block above (merge into any existing mcpServers).
  3. Provide any required API keys/credentials as environment variables.
  4. Restart VS Code and confirm transcriptor-mcp’s tools appear.
