Set up free-search-mcp in Goose

communitystdiounknown

Local-first, no-API-key MCP server for web search, fetch, and document reading. Multi-engine (DuckDuckGo, Mojeek, Startpage), smart Playwright fallback, FTS5 cache, LLM-tuned output.

01Configuration
{ "mcpServers": { "free-search-mcp": { "command": "uvx", "args": [ "search-mcp" ] } } }

Add this to ~/.config/goose/config.yaml. Generated from the captured install method (uvx); the mcpServers shape is shared across Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, and VS Code.

02Steps
  1. Make sure Goose is installed and up to date.
  2. Open ~/.config/goose/config.yaml and add the block above (merge into any existing mcpServers).
  3. Provide any required API keys/credentials as environment variables.
  4. Restart Goose and confirm free-search-mcp’s tools appear.
